During this COVID-19 Crisis, the UCSC/YPSA leadership team has been working closely with the Academy Council teachers on a distance learning plan as quickly as possible to get our scholars back into learning through an online platform. We appreciate your patience in allowing us to explore this new approach.
Below is a tentative schedule of events that will happen.
The leadership team and Academy Council explored internet connectivity, computer devices, distance learning information released by the state, and formulated a distance learning plan inclusive of a set of criteria and a structure to guide the development of online materials for classroom teachers.
Explored online meeting platforms and trained leadership team to use it. Provided training to appointed teachers on the Academy Council on the usage of the meeting platform.
Academy Council finalizes the distance learning plan, and teachers begin the development of online materials. The leadership team and appointed teachers will continue to explore the online learning platform to administer learning materials to scholars.
Provide training for classroom teachers, scholars, and parents on the use of the distance learning platform.
At the same time, information technology staff will evaluate the existing infrastructure to ensure access for teachers and scholars to the online materials.
Processes and procedures are developed for the management of online access and computer device check-out.
While this is going on, all scholars, 1st through 6th grade, with internet access to online learning at home can log onto Moby Max with their login and password. It is expected that scholars spend 30 minutes on ELA and 30 minutes on Math. Scholars can login using the following link:
Technology devices checked out to scholars/parents. Tentative implementation of distance learning to begin this week.
Design plans for Hmong Language Development, Tae Kwon Do, Dance, Physical Education, Achievement Through Technology, and Instructional Assistants following the same format for classroom teachers described above.
Implementation of distance learning to take place for all scholars by this week, if not sooner.
While this is going on, Hmong Language Development, Tae Kwon Do, Dance, Physical Education, Achievement Through Technology, and Instructional Assistants will receive training on the online platform.
As we trek on this new approach to teaching and learning, a technical support team will be available to assist staff, parents, and scholars with access to the online distance learning platform; this will be available by April 13, 2020.
